For many of the adult members of the gym that were once members of sports teams during high school, CrossFit brings back all the good memories. “CrossFit is all about strength, balance, intensity, accuracy; that is what sports are all about," said Timmy Weddle.
After graduating, many people think their sports life has ended, but CrossFit brings back all of the things that athletes did during their high school athletic career. Brandy Scherer said that when she does CrossFit, it reminds her of the team camaraderie that her teams once had. Within the gym everyone is constantly pushing others to lift heavier and work harder and that is what helps us as athletes to better ourselves and reach our max potential. “The community is like a team, but it is still only you out there and you have to rely on your determination and motivation, just like WRASTLIN," said William Walker.
CrossFit athletes have to be self motivated in order to be their best, but it also helps to have the CrossFit community there constantly cheering you on. Being on a sports team brings everyone together and creates a family, just like in CrossFit. Having a “CrossFit Family” is important because it helps us look forward to showing up and motivates us to stay consistent in the gym. The family aspect of sports and CrossFit works to bring us together to make it through the hard workouts, and we never feel alone.
