What defines a hero?
“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles” - Christopher Reeve.
Here at CrossFit Eden, we all have heroes that we look up to. While interviewing a few members of the gym, they each have different criteria for what keeps them motivated. Toni Dunovant seemed to be a common role model that both new and old members, such as Tiffany Featherston and Logan Fulton, mentioned because she has two kids, works, and has recently been injured, yet is still at the gym everyday working out to the best of her abilities.
Robin Farris was also a commonly mentioned “hero in the gym” because not only does she train hard at the gym, she also encourages everyone else around her.
Along with the adults, there are a couple of members in the kids class that have inspired members of the gym. Debbie Redd mentioned one person that keeps her going, and that is her daughter, Angie. “She always goes 100% despite all of her limitations and never says she can’t do anything”. Angie has Down syndrome and follows the #provethemwrong campaign; she usually comes home and says that by her workouts, she proves them wrong. Having heroes is important, because they give us motivation and model the type of person we should strive to be.
Here at CrossFit Eden we value each member, as they are all heroes to someone!
