Occupation: Salesman for Triad Freightliner
When did you start CrossFit? About two and half years ago
Favorite WOD: Anything with bodyweight movements
Least Favorite WOD: "Karen" (150 Wall Balls)
Tell us about your sports and fitness background: I played baseball, soccer, and hockey all through school. After high school, I started racing 4-wheelers. I also got into drag racing, have ran a few Spartan races, GORUCKs, and other mud runs.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I first saw it on TV and thought that I would never be able to do it. I finished college, moved back home and wanted something to do. Encouragement from my family pushed me to give it a try, and my first WOD was during a test week. I felt like I was punishing myself, but decided to keep coming back. The more classes I came to, the better I got and felt.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CF? I didn't finish my first WOD. After that, I said, "Even if I'm here all night, I'll finish!" Since that day I have noticed changes in my entire body, but what I am most excited about is feeling and being healthy. Looking at something like that before and saying, "No way!" and now saying, "Why not?!" My diet has improved a lot thanks to CrossFit, some seminars, and help from the coaches. I used to hate to even think about working out, and now it's a permanent part of my week.
Any advice for people just getting started? One movement at a time, one class at a time, and you will get there! There are so many people here to support you and help you out. You have to want it for yourself, and everything else will come!
