They could be anywhere living among us... Teaching students at local elementary and middle schools, responding to insurance claims, helping you make financial decisions, cutting your hair, executing drills in the Army Reserve, fighting fires or showing middle school kids the love of Jesus. Who are these men and women of mystery? They are the every day superheroes in our communities, and they are the athletes you can find at Crossfit Eden! This week all these people and more donned their favorite superhero gear to take on 16.3, a 7 min AMRAP of 10 Snatches and 3 Bar Muscle-ups.
So what qualities do Crossfit Eden members have that make them super? New Dad Mitch finished with 75 reps in the workout and had this to say, " Every day, I wake up with a drive to be better, in my personal life, at work and in the gym. I am relentlessly dissatisfied with where I am today. I am always striving for improvement." Jayne Davis, a Spartan racer, said that she was doing better in the Open than she thought she could do. " Crossfit teaches you discipline and technique. It brings out the best in any athlete." And sometimes, an athlete doesn't have to say anything at all, but shows you through their actions that they are super... Like Emily Gerringer did, demonstrating perseverance in a workout that was difficult for her. She pushed past the " No Reps" to complete the workout with a smile!
Each year as the Open progresses we see more and more exciting things happening in the gym. I'm pleased to announce that several of our members set a PR! Y'all make sure that you ring that bell! Congrats to Brandy, Neal, Jeremy and the mysterious man they call Breedlove. If you know any of these folks be sure to give them a pat on the back, and if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting them yet be sure to introduce yourself if you catch them in any of your classes. If you have yet to set a PR during the Open, never fear! We still have 2 weeks left and there will be opportunities for you to channel your inner superhero too!
