When did you first start crossfitting? End of June 2014, about 10 months ago
Favorite WOD: Elizabeth and Grace
Least favorite WOD: Anything with burpees
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: Before Crossfit I never really played any sports or worked out, except for in middle school. I was always out of shape and could never stick to going to the gym or working out by myself.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it and how did it feel? I first learned about Crossfit from a girl I used to work with. She used to do it and talked so highly of it and thought I might enjoy it. I can remember the very first day I came I was really nervous and almost turned around and didn’t come. But, I am SO glad that I didn’t. The first WOD I did I think was an AMRAP wall balls, squats and maybe burpees. It was only seven minutes long and I only got through about two rounds of it. I remember feeling so out of breath and got so light headed afterwards, probably from my poor diet. It was really an eye opener for me to see how out of shape I really was.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF?
I have seen many changes since starting Crossfit. I haven’t lost many pounds on the scale, but most all of my body fat has turned to muscle. I have never been so confident in the way my body looks and how strong I feel. I never thought that I would get addicted to something like this so quickly. I have also changed my eating habits dramatically. Once I started changing my eating habits is when I started noticing more changes in my body. I have met some truly amazing and inspiring people at this gym who have motivated me to do the best I can be. Once I started getting more involved in the events and doing extra work after class is when I started noticing how much stronger I was becoming.
Any advice for people just getting started? Don’t give up! It’s so hard in the beginning, but once you get through those first few workouts, you’ll start surprising yourself at how strong your body is and can be! I never thought that Crossfit would become such a huge part of my life, but after seeing the changes and progress I was making, I couldn’t stop and I don’t think I ever will.
